Revolution

Perhaps some of you have heard about a few of the bad experiences I’ve had with one of my current teachers at school. Well, if you haven’t I’ll quickly fill you in.

My classmates and I have been really frustrated with one of our teachers, mostly because his/her class is a total gong show, but more recently for some additional reasons too. Just this week she/he was in a sour mood and was a little out of control harsh to some of the students, it was difficult to deal with given the already bad conditions of the class.

In response to this week’s events we were all pushed over the edge a little bit and decided it was time to take some sort of action. I tried to gather the troops and we went to talk to someone in administration to voice our complaints. As six of us flooded into the office it was a bit of a humorous sight. We voiced our concern and we were asked to put it in writing.

So back to our classroom we marched and I wrote up a letter that expressed some of the general feelings of the group. The letter was passed around and read and most everyone that read it agreed and signed their name on the letter. I was glad to see a group of us students actually taking some action and working to resolve a real issue in our school.

The letter will be submitted today with about 17 signatures (not too bad). I don’t know whether we’ll be taken seriously or not, but I sure do hope so because the real issue goes beyond our class and effects the entire school. I don’t want other students to have to deal with the same rubbish that we are. I also don’t want AiC to get a bad reputation of any kind for having less than hoped for quality of teaching. I think we’re doing the right thing and I’m excited to see what changes come as a result. I’ll keep you posted.

Good luck with that. Risky behaviour for someone who is about to take a 6-month leave of absence. :) But a guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do.

I love that you said rubbish. At first I was worried about your blogging on the subject but then I realized you weren’t just taking your complaints online but to the streets!

    Stick it to the Man.

Who knew you would be the revolting type… I never pictured my little belt wearing cowboy boot little brother to grow up and have opinions and stuff. Nice curve ball buddy. So it has been a few days what happened? are you nervous that this lame brain will fail you? p.s. I hope he doesn’t read this blog :)

    Nate,
    I’m definitely stickin it!

    Nicole,
I am supposed to meet with someone in administration this week again and we’ll see what comes out of that. I’m totally not nervous about the failing thing though. I’m a good enough student that she would have a very hard time messing up my grades, besides the administration people assured me that I would be protected that way. It’s totally okay if he/she read the blog though, I have already told my teacher all of this stuff anyway.

Got Something To Say?
